Palm Potentials specializes in treatment for adults. Types of services offered include individual, couples, family, and group therapies. Your choice of service depends on your goals for therapy.
Individual therapy entails one-to-one work with the therapist with the sole focus on the challenges you face and the goals you are trying to achieve.
Couples therapy focuses on the relationship between paired significant others. While each person may learn about self in relation to other, the overarching goal is to better understand or improve the relationship as a whole.
Family therapy also focuses on relationships with significant others, though goals may differ based on differences in ages, roles, or responsibilities to one another. Keep in mind that because Palm Potentials focuses on treatment for adults, services concentrate on adult members of a family. By way of example, a current and prominent issue in society is that of the “sandwich generation,” also known as the “Baby Boomers.” This generational group often has significant challenges in balancing care for self, their children, their grandchildren, and aging parents. Thus, care and balance for self is often lost, leading to increased stresses, worries, anxiety, depression, insufficient support, or other difficulties signifying the strain of many roles –- individuals are juggling too many hats, so to speak.
Other services available include group therapy and workshops. Please email or call if you are interested in such services, as they require the participation and coordination of several individuals who must be available to meet at a common time.
- Group therapy has numerous benefits through opportunities to share concerns among others working on similar goals and issues. In group, each individual has the chance to identify and express needs, gain support from others, and expand knowledge through the shared ideas of many.
- Workshops are more structured and educational in nature, with presentations and learning exercises aimed at learning about a variety of mental health and life issues, options for addressing them, and resources for further help. See Bridge Program.
