Dr. Judith Carney PsyD
I am Dr. Judith Carney, PsyD, a licensed clinical psychologist with expertise in mental health and well-being.
My interest in psychology took root as a young adult. As an avid reader, I became fascinated by stories of people overcoming hardship and tragedy in their lives. Intrigued by their capacity to transcend enormous difficulties, I had endless questions. How did these people move past challenges and problems? What qualities did they possess? What got them through seemingly insurmountable circumstances?
Readings repeatedly pointed me in the direction of psychological theories, insights, and strategies for managing life. I was captivated by the idea that if any one person had the capacity to overcome difficulties, it was humanly possible. I was further inspired in realizing that such qualities and skills could be learned or cultivated.
Pursuit of understanding human potential and mastery over challenges became my driving force for study - and it remains the dominant focus of my practice today. We all face challenges. We can choose to do nothing and succumb, perhaps leading to a path of misery, or we can choose to learn and grow, seeking our strengths, and utilizing them to gain mastery over challenges – a choice that nurtures potential.
